Thursday prompting frenzy!
Aloha, my darlings. Happy Thursday!
The lovely
jakia has suggested a twist on our traditional free-for-alls:
In a previous fandom I was in, we had Prompt-Fest days. Essentially, a mod or someone would post ten prompts that ranged from one word (miserable for example) to song lyrics to character situations (the last time Puck cries in Glee; Mike as a Cheerio; Kurt's mother's maiden name, ect.). Everyone who wanted to would then fill a prompt with whatever they want--a drabble, a full length fic, icons, banners, gifsets, sketches, fanart, whatever--but once they posted a fill of their own, they left three prompts of their own behind so someone else could fill it.
So today, we're going to give it a try. Behind a cut, we have ten prompts. Go ahead and do with them whatever you like, just remember to leave new prompts in return!
1. Karaoke
2. Applesauce, summertime, thunder
3. 'Something blue' at a wedding
4. And take extra care with strangers, even flowers have their dangers, and though scary is exciting, nice is different than good. (I'm not good, I'm not nice, I'm just right)
5. Self-fulfilling prophecy
6. Murder-mystery dinner night
7. Candlelight, water, rust
8. 'It's not easy being green'
9. Disarm you with a smile, cut you like you want me to cut that little child, inside of me and such a part of you (what I choose is my choice)
10. Apocalypse

Self-Fulfilling Prophecy
Kurt was gay when he was eight and didn't know what the word meant. Kurt was gay when he was twelve and had access to google for the first time. Kurt was gay at fifteen and came out to the surprise of absolutely no one. Kurt was gay at seventeen, when he had a boyfriend that he loved for the first time in his life.
(Kurt is nineteen, and for the first time, not-so-gay, kissing Rachel Berry and marveling at the hot flush of desire rushing through his body. He wonders, for the first time, what his life might have been like, if the world hadn't told him he was queer from birth, and if he hadn't decided in turn that they were right.)
========
PROMPTS:
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad?
I'll sleep when I'm dead

Karaoke
But on the other hand, he doesn't prepare for karaoke the way he does for glee club. Usually there isn't much advance warning, and it's supposed to be just for fun, and he doesn't even know until he gets there which songs they have. So he picks songs he likes and does his best, but he knows he never sounds as good as when he's practiced and practiced beforehand, by himself in his room.
And his friends are so good. They compliment him, and he appreciates it, but he doesn't have Rachel's beautiful tone, or Mercedes' volume, or Blaine's charisma. Hell, even Puck has a more diverse repertoire. Kurt just doesn't feel like a leading man when all his favorite people in the world are goofing off, being ridiculous, and still sounding incredible, talented, polished.
It's only karaoke, and it's not supposed to be a competition. But to Kurt, it always is.
Prompts:
"One day, you will all work for me."
"Kurt, gonna say it again: Boys' team."
“The broken dresser in their room still smells like her perfume. I know it’s stupid, but sometimes I’ll sneak in there, open all the drawers, and lie on the floor and close my eyes, and just smell her.”
