GLEE IS BACK! (3x15 Excitement, Spec, and Liveblogging Post)

WE'RE BACK, EVERYONE.

GET EXCITED.

(In light of the fact that I can't do any gifs for you right now, I expect to see a giant gif party in the comments when I wake up tomorrow morning. Do not fail me, comm. Do. Not. Fail. Me.*)

As follows, we're also back to normal posting schedule this week--so this is both our final speculation and excitement post before the episode starts, and our liveblogging/flailing post.

As we're still easing into working out what systems works, things may change in the next few weeks, but for now here's the set up we'll try: I will set up a comment thread for last minute spoiler-talk (MAKE SURE YOU NOTE WHAT SPOILERS/ELEMENTS YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IN THE COMMENT HEADER, PLEASE, as always), and one for crazed gif party excitement.
When the episode starts you can do your liveblogging comments in their own threads, and narceus or I may set up specific discussion/character threads after the episode to ease post-ep discussion.
Then, after that, there will be two other posts--speculation on the new trailer, and another "Give Me All Your Gifs" post.

I hope that makes sense to everyone. Everything should go smoothly, but don't hate us if it doesn't! We'll also set up a thread at the end of the evening/liveblogging for you guys to comment on what worked or what didn't for future reference.

And now, let us get thoroughly and absolutely cray!

*I'll still love you if you don't. But you probably should anyway...

Quinn in a wheelchair? Quinn and Rachel? Quinn and Artie? ALL THE THINGS.

Quinn is handling her accident very well, especially considering how she used to "deal" with stuff.

Artie tries to build disability community and mostly succeeds, but he doesn't really listen when Quinn says that she'll probably walk again and all I can think about is Dream On.

Don't really know what to make of Teen Jesus.

Rachel just feels so guilty and Quinn is incredibly mature and level-headed about it--it wasn't Rachel's fault that Quinn wasn't paying attention.

I don't like that Quinn is comparing the pain of living in Lima with the pain of temporarily losing the use of her legs. She'll still be able to dance at Nationals and attend Yale using the wheel chair. Not that I blame her, because this is a lot to process and for the most part, she's reacting far better than anyone has a right to expect. :)

Hmm. See, I don't think Quinn's handling things very well at all, really.

She's plastering on a great big smile and an inch-thick armor of positivity that kind of screams 'denial', given what we know of how Quinn's dealt with things in the past. She's dealing by not dealing. None of this is real, all of this is a phase, none of it counts--and when Artie tries to suggest that it might count a little bit more than she wants it to, she does not deal with it.

I think what gets me is just, how much we see Quinn smiling in this episode. She's in a wheelchair. It's hard. It sucks. Anyone might be expected to be grumpy, or lash out, or be something less than 100% charitable to all of their friends and God and the entire universe, but Quinn's not doing any of that, even a little (until the skate park). Which is what leads me to suspect that there's rather more acting going on here than she'd like to admit.

It always takes me some time to figure Quinn out. Of course, I was wrong, since the episode flat-out said that it was about acting, and who's better at acting than Quinn Fabray?

Thinking it through again... from what I can tell, Quinn's veneer of happiness gets increasingly frayed throughout the ep until she can barely manage her conversation with Joe. The sole exceptions, I think, are the skate park and the steep ramp scenes, where she seems genuinely joyful.

See, I got a tip-off from her wardrobe right off the bat. (We really have to get the color theory thingie up soon.) Yellow is the color of denial, or feeling unhappy (or scared, or what-have-you) and covering it up.

(Quinn never wore yellow in S1, though her mother did, every time. She's worn almost nothing else all of Season 3).

SURPRISINGLY, I LEAVE THIS EPISODE NOT WITH MANY BLAINE FEELS (though I do have those) BUT MOSTLY QUARTIE FEELS.

Quartie. Quartie.

Write all the fic, internet. Do it.
