Wow. Just....wow to all of it. The hand holds (ALL the handholds), and how Dave just slid into being this completley different person for me when Kurt asked him to picture his future and he asked to change lawyer to "sports agent."

Also, anyone else think an off screen, we never really see it but it's there, friendship might happen between Kurt and Joe Heart?

Yes to this! I had all this headcanon about Dave being into math (I think he said he was in pre-calc during his junior year) but sports agent is a great goal and I love that he has hopes and dreams about his future. I love how after he says that, the set his future self is in has shelves of trophies and things. And yay handholds!

Oh man, that's really intense. I bet he does fantasy football and makes spreadsheets and things for fun. :D

Based off his room he also builds model airplanes so there might be some sort of link between his math skill and some sort of engineering/architect career in his real future.

I kind of really love the set directors. I love the details in Blaine's room especially. :D

OMG This episode was so good! I was kind of astounded at the quality level of the writing/acting/editing/storytelling. Max Adler was brilliant, Chris Colfer was brilliant, Darren Criss wasn't in it much but he was also brilliant. And I want to know more about what Blaine was thinking during Cough Syrup. He seemed so angry and heartbroken.

I'm so glad Kurt is trying to take care of Dave. My multishipping heart was all flaily over Kurt watching Blaine sing, Kurt holding Dave's hand, Blaine standing up and applauding Sebastian, the fact that Sebastian and Dave met at Scandals...

When Blaine first met Sebastian, it seemed to me that he was genuinely attracted to him and feeling guilty about that. Then Sebastian became a jerk (and not just overly flirty and forward), and obviously Blaine hates him since his eye injury, but this episode seems to be leading toward Sebastian being nicer and people maybe starting to forgive him? I'm curious where they're going with this. I had thought Sebastian was going to be the new villain, but apparently not. Blaine always says "Sebastian means nothing to me" and "I don't want to do anything to mess up my thing with [Kurt]" but I don't think he's ever actually said he's not attracted to Sebastian or tempted by him. I'm intrigued by love triangle possibilities. :D

I also want to know if Dave will be in more episodes as Kurt's friend, because that would be awesome and adorable.

Yep, I saw your link!

Those are good points. I was really interested in Kurt's reactions in particular. It makes complete sense to me that he would blame himself, even though it's not his fault at all. But I actually felt weird about how it went down. The staff from Dave's old school (did they say how they found out?) discussed how to present the information to the students, like it's everyone's business. I don't know, maybe I'm weird, but in my experience, deaths get announced, with assemblies and offers of counselling, and suicide attempts just don't get discussed; it's a private medical issue that's revealed on a need-to-know basis. I'm not sure if my perception is accurate, but the idea of announcing it to the student body of a school he doesn't even attend anymore just felt foreign to me.

I've seen complaints that they didn't show Kurt going to Blaine for support even though he generally does (like after the ballot stuffing incident he said to Rachel "I need to find Blaine"). It makes sense to me that they wouldn't include it here for storytelling reasons; they had a lot to get through in one episode. But still, I would love to know Blaine's reaction, as someone who really doesn't like Dave and is currently going through a lot of bullying stress. Also I wonder if Kurt specifically avoided talking to Blaine about it because he worried about Blaine's reaction. Maybe he'd wave away Kurt's guilt and insist he not worry about it. Maybe he'd be worried or jealous about Kurt wanting to help and support Dave. Maybe it would bring up bad memories of bullying and depression for Blaine. Maybe the idea of suicide is triggering for him. Maybe Kurt thought Blaine had too much to deal with right now. Anyway I really want to know more.

Heh WMHS queer kids club. That so needs to be a real thing.

You know, the whole 'he doesn't even go there any more wtf' hit me at first, too, except then I remembered: half of this whole thing went down on Facebook. 100% chance that at least some of the McKinley students already knew, excellent chance that some number of the McKinley students knew before the teachers did. Like. If the McKinley faculty found out because Bieste heard Azimio and some of the guys talking in the locker room? Because, you know, you're right: "revealed on a need-to-know basis". I doubt anybody official would have called McKinley at all, if McKinley didn't go looking around.

Just. Food for thought.

(Everything else you say is smart and right and good, but that was the part I had worthwhile actual commentary for.)

- I was and yet wasn't surprised at all that the thing Rachel looks forward to isn't Broadway (or the like) at all -- it's being friends with them for the rest of her life.

-Mercedes, though -- she's looking forward to seeing Rachel's children?

- Tina's made me laugh -- it was supposed to, wasn't it? Not that they were all mocking her, but more like she was trying to lighten things up?

- Finn was the only one who said he was going to to do something.

- What is with Blaine's watch. Up until "Michael" he always wore it on his right wrist, and then he comes back in "Heart" and suddenly it's on his left, and has remained there so far.

(Actually, what is up with Blaine in general.)

- Never thought I'd defend Will, but the way people are mocking him on Tumblr is pretty gross.

- I like what they're doing with Joe. Curious that he hasn't joined glee club yet.

- Songs I haven't been able to stop listening to: Cough Syrup, Glad You Came, and Here's To Us.

- I'd actually managed to convince myself that ND were going to lose, so it was a shock that they didn't.

- Why won't they ever give Quinn a break?

I was a little weirded out by Mercedes' thing she's looking forward to as well. She must have better things in her future than that. Maybe she was using the opportunity to support Rachel's wedding. Just like how Tina was lightening the mood but also has better things in her future.

I want to know what's up with Blaine too! I didn't notice the watch thing, but I saw a fic recently in which he's depressed and cuts himself, and his watch covers the worst of the marks on his wrist. That would explain switching wrists, but I really really don't think the show would go there. (Then again I wouldn't have thought Dave would attempt suicide either, so...)

I very much want to know what direction Darren was given for Cough Syrup. There has to be more to this story.

[personal profile] yourtinseltinkerbell 2012-02-26 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Good point about Mercedes. Is that really like her, though?

I've seen some of that talk surrounding Blaine, too, though I'm more of the opinion that he used to harm himself in whatever way, and if he still does it, it's not cutting, and if it is, not on his wrists (it's too easy to get caught that way; he doesn't want to live with scars that are difficult to hide for the rest of his life).

Anyway, it might explain the switching wrist thing; it would completely depend on which direction he cuts in, and how deep/long/whatever.

Yeah, I don't think they'll go there either, and if they do, I don't think they'll go the cutting route. I know someone over on Tumblr brought up that he might hit himself? I could see that.

You know, back when season three rolled around and I started noticing that he wore his watch on his right wrist, my first thought was that maybe he's ambidextrous. Then I thought up this silly little headcanon where, during the bashing, they broke his left arm/wrist, so he got used to wearing his watch on his right wrist and simply never switched back. That doesn't explain this new development, though.

I'm undecided on Mercedes. I could see her being supportive of Rachel and being her BFF I think.

I also really doubt Blaine cuts, especially his wrists. I like the explanation about him breaking his wrist and switching which wrist he wears his watch on. Maybe he's not ambidextrous, things are actually easier to do with his right hand. Maybe while he was doped up on painkillers for his eye, he wasn't able to do it with his left hand, so he switched back.

I've heard that Blaine and Darren wear their watches on opposite sides, and part their hair on opposite sides, and things like that. Maybe it's just a matter of Darren/wardrobe forgetting for a while?

Could it have to do with only being able to see with his left eye? Or is that silly?
yourtinseltinkerbell: (Default)

[personal profile] yourtinseltinkerbell 2012-02-26 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I could absolutely see as being supportive of Rachel; I meant more like, is it like her to light the mood like that, like Tina did?

I like all these possibilities! And yeah, Darren wears his watch on his left wrist, so it's entirely possible that he/wardrobe simply forgot, but hey, they don't exist in the show, so we have to make up our own reasons.

I don't think that's silly at all, though I'm really no expert on the subject so I can't say. I do doubt he was wearing his watch while cooped up at home, though. He wasn't during Ben, in any case.

You're right, I can't really think of other times when Mercedes has done that. Hmm...

Until proven otherwise, I think I'm going with the theory that doing up a watch with one's non-dominant hand is too difficult while drugged. :)

Just in response to the Mercedes bits in this thread.

At the beginning of this season, Mercedes Big Thing was "win a Grammy, make beautiful cocoa babies with Shane". She's now very recently broken up with Shane, and so doesn't have that to look forward to.

She also doesn't have Sam anymore, and came to the conclusion that she did a very very bad thing, in her eyes.

So I'd say she probably doesn't feel like she has a lot of good things in her own life to look forward to.

Also I think I have thoughts on Blaine and the watch? But I also have to go do school things now, so! >

That all makes sense about Mercedes. I hadn't thought of it that way before. Someone who relates to the desire to have kids (ie not me) could probably write a very sad and heartfelt fic about Mercedes' dreams/plans with Shane, and then transferring that to wanting to see Rachel's kids.

there is a Very Very Long and Very Not Finished Mercedes fic sitting in my drafts right now that is supposed to cover all of S1 and 2... I don't want kids either, but I now also want to continue the fic alll the way up to here because Mercedeeeees ;____; she is amazing

Hi! I came and found this thread again because Cooper wears his watch on his right wrist. My new head-canon is that Cooper is left-handed and little Blaine copied everything Cooper did. :)
yourtinseltinkerbell: (Default)

[personal profile] yourtinseltinkerbell 2012-04-14 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes sense to me. I like it.

So, Blaine had his watch on his right wrist 3.01 --> 3.11, then on his left 3.13 -- 3.14, and now he's back with it on the right wrist.

I mean, I can totally see him copying Cooper, but why did he switch for those two episodes?

I should not be as obsessed with the Andersons and their watches as I am.

I just went through the beginning of Michael and I can't see any evidence of him wearing a watch at all before he was injured, so I'm sticking with the theory that his pain meds just made him too uncoordinated to put on a watch with his non-dominant hand. :) And then he just got into the habit for a few weeks until he realized it felt slightly weird wearing his watch on the wrong wrist, and switched back over the hiatus.

It's weird to watch a song over and over trying to keep your eye on someone's wrists. LOL.

In Wanna Be Startin' Something, he's definitely not wearing a watch on his left wrist in the first outfit with the white jacket, but I couldn't see his right wrist, and I had trouble seeing his wrists in the second outfit. So I'm not sure.

lol, I can imagine! Personally, it's weird watching someone that's, you know, not Blaine. Even with scenes/performances that I've watched too many times to count that I go into telling myself "this time I'm going to watch x character", my eyes are just drawn towards Blaine. / Blaine-stan problems.
