crown_of_weeds has anything to say about it, has worked out the codes for how to do gifsets and posted it here, so go wild with that. Snippets of cracky AU ideas you can't decide what to do with? Pics, quotes, random bits of interview...let's see if we can't get up a rousing game of memes in the comments, yeah?

One of your mods may be along in the comments with some prompts or ideas for themes today, but either way, go hog wild. And always remember:

Several image and gifsets that have or have almost made me write really extensive fic--and some teaser paragraphs from each one.

First of all, the one you've already read:

“It’s not sex, Blaine,” Kurt interrupts, rolling his eyes. “But why am I not surprised you and Rachel Berry have sex like a couple at the end of a Hallmark movie? She probably calls it ‘making love’, too, doesn’t she?”

“Well maybe it is,” says Blaine. “But I’m still here, doing this with you, even though I don’t know what you’d call it--”

“Breaking up the monotony of the evening,” says Kurt.

“I just know that this...relationship that we have, it’s really confusing for me,” Blaine says, sitting up and trying to look just a little more pitiful.

“Breakfast is confusing for you,” says Kurt. “Last week you spent four days in a deep ethical and philosophical quagmire over whether it was all right to eat bacon.”

Okay, and if this actually works...muahahahaha. DW will be my bitch.

Mdakfj, I love that gifset and that fandom trend. I just wish fandom was willing to do MORE with it, though.

Like, where is my Mike-is-Puck fic, guys? Where's the Blaine-is-Tina fics? Or Karofsky-is-Finn?

Hmm. That one was a little bit of a mess, but I think I have the idea down now...

And the story:

Rachel Berry knows how to hide the insides of her own mind better than Finn Hudson ever did.

She's the best. Better than anyone else on the market. She was as good as Jesse, before...before. So Jesse never did realize that while Finn Hudson, hapless heir to the Hudson empire, was falling in love with his dream security teacher, she was falling back.

Finn has nothing to do at all with why Jesse thought he could conquer Limbo all on his own, and Finn is not the reason Rachel couldn't pull him back up when she went in after him. That was all Jesse, and Jesse's stupid pride, and Blaine yanking her back up when all she needed was just five more minutes...

("In five more minutes you'd have been as broken as he was," Blaine spat back at the funeral, when she started shouting. "Isn't that why you called me?" She doesn't know why he hasn't left her yet. Blaine's too good for the likes of Rachel Berry.)

But Jesse had nothing to do with those few brief, whirlwind, dreamspace moments with Finn. Nothing at all.

Rachel still isn't sure she wants to take this job, though.

And, while we're on a Rachel-and-Blaine-working-together track--I loved the Anderberry sibling meme, but it didn't strike any inspiration at all. Until this one:

The year that Rachel turned eleven, a spaceship crashed into Big Ben. That Christmas, aliens dragged a third of all the people on earth up to the edges of their roofs, just daring the world to bet they wouldn't jump.

Rachel's life started making a lot more sense after that.

She still wasn't allowed to say how much she knew about aliens at school, that Dad had designed a whole secret sub-basement to hold Daddy's files and computers and arsenal, or that her other dad, the one she was supposed to call by name, had been teaching her how to shoot when he came by for visits since she was seven. Dad said it wasn't safe, and Daddy said there was a reason he'd gotten out of government contracting before Rachel was born, and Jack...

well, Jack stopped visiting, the summer of the year Rachel turned 11, so he didn't say much at all.

You never did finish telling me the Inception story :D

I have a fic where T1-N4 (Tina) is an assassin droid (a la HK-47) and M1-K3 (Mike) is a protocol droid (a la C3-P0) in the Star Wars universe, and then they fall in love and fight crime.

It might be the weirdest crossover in the history of everything.

I...would totally believe that, though. Also, read it. (It makes me picture a story where Finchel and Klaine and Quinn and whoever are dashing around being Super Dramatic and saving the galaxy in the background, and we're just watching Mike and Tina being awesome and competent and getting things done. Which are the best Mike and Tina stories, really.)

Also, I'm trying to decide if girl!Blaine would have been raped post-Sadie Hawkins dance rather than beaten up, and if so, how does that change Blaine in canon and if it's worth exploring that in fic.

OMG That would make me unhappy and I'd hate you, but let's be honest, I'd probably read it anyway. Is Kurt also a girl? Is the attack for the same reasons (homophobia)? Does it make Blaine more wary of touch and sexuality? Or more promiscuous? More or less flirty?

I've known this idea for five minutes and I'm developing all this headcanon about it. I'm picturing the attack as non-con assault involving fingers and words (mostly because if it was all-out rape I'd die of angst) and it makes Blaine have confusingly mixed feelings about sex, so she's slow to open up to Kurt, but it's frustrating for Kurt because Blaine is just as flirty as in canon.

So these are not AU, but I think our new members should know about THESE AMAZINGLY DETAILED RECAPS that four_tens is kindly doing here. They start at the pilot and have gone up through 1x05 so far. People should read them, comment on them, and remember how the show was/is. It's pretty fantastic.

So the fandom I've been really involved in for the last six months or so has been Homestuck, which is this webcomic thingy that could probably be described as the unholy lovechild of the Sims and Earthbound. And for almost as long as I've been following it, I've been trying to figure out in my head how to make a Glee/Homestuck fusion work. With the early S2 New Directions (ie -Matt +Sam) as trolls and with four others (Blaine, and originally I was thinking Lauren Zizes, Karofsky, and Becky) as the human kids. And with maybe the idea that the hemospectrum for Troll New Directions should vaguely mirror everyone's place in the high school pecking order in actual Glee canon?

Anyway, I have no idea whatsoever if anyone else reads Homestuck, but if anyone does and would like to talk about this and toss out ideas on how to make it work, that would be pretty cool.

(Those little sprites up there are supposed to be Kid Blaine and Troll Kurt, who I was tentatively having in the Karkat slot for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the idea of Burt as the Signless cracks me the fuck up.)

I should note that I missed a few days last...fall? and then catching up was just ahahahahano, so I'm way the hell behind on canon. But I would support the shit out of this.

Also I would read your Valdemar thing, and at some point I should tell you the extremely-easy-to-translate-to-actual-Valdemar, Lackey-inspired chatfic I told Weeds a few months ago. Wherein Sue, Lady Sylvester is the head of national intelligence, and Kurt and Rachel will be bards someday. No Companions, though. You're making me want to get on that.

Oh, Kurt and Blaine are totally redrom. Eventually. Kurt doesn't start out feeling that way and Blaine has to deal with a lot of troll shit and temporal shenanigans at the same time as he's dealing with bullying at his school, but then Kurt sees what happens at the Sadie Hawkins Dance through his trollian window and they become friends and then fall in love eventually. In my brain this takes place Blaine's freshman year, so he's not transfered to Dalton yet when the Game would start.

And yeah, Kurt is not exactly a Cancer personality-wise, but I wanted to mirror the High School Pecking Order with the Hemospectrum and you have to admit that Kurt, while an awesome dude, is definitely on the bottom. Finn and Quinn would probably be the sea dwellers! With Quinn as the heiress seeing as trolls are matriarchal insect types. Still trying to figure out where the others are on it. Rachel is definitely pretty low, as are Tina, Artie, and Mercedes.

Part of me, an evil, evil part of me, is contemplating Sue Sylvester as the Condesce.

(Also, Karkat/John is an excellent ship, no matter the quadrant. Well, maybe not <> because Karkat<>Gamzee is my OTP but they are good in all the others :D I am writing them blackrom in the Homestuck fic I am working on now.)

So when I was in middle school and high school, I had a thing for Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar books. And even now they're a bit of a guilty pleasure. And so for many, many months now I have been wanting to make a Glee/Valdemar crossover/fusion fic in which the characters from Glee are all Healers, Bards, Heralds, and Mages at the Collegium at Haven. Oh, and Companions. Some of them would definitely need to be Companions.

It would probably be set sometime after the Winds/Storms trilogies? And there would still be the actual Valdemar characters around, it's just that the Glee characters have been added to the mix. Anyway, here are some tentative thoughts:

Emma -- Healer
Will -- Bard
Sue -- A VERY SCARY HERALD-MAGE and veteran of the war against Ancar. Doesn't actually have a lot of mage gift but uses the fuck out of what she has.
Becky - Sue's Companion?
Rachel -- Bard?
Kurt -- Herald? Possibly Herald-Mage?
Blaine -- Kurt's Companion. Because I am evil.
Artie -- Herald
Puck -- Artie's Companion :D
Other New Directions -- ????

Could Mike be one of the Artisan kids, and Tina is a Bardic Trainee?

Oooooh, yeah. That sounds great. I'm figuring everyone (except the adults) are probably trainees/journeymen.

(Actually, the fic I have niggling about in my head has Kurt going on his internship thingy with Sue as his mentor.)

Maybe Quinn wouldn't start out as a Trainee, she'd be one of the Blues; her parents are in the Court.

Hahaha. That wouldn't be bad, but I'm really attached to the Companion Blaine idea. It's not like it would be the first time someone accidentally fell in love with their companion, after all. (*coughcough*LavanFirestorm*cough*)

...would Companion Blaine still dance on furniture? :D
