Ask Your Questions Wednesday

How do the weeks go by so fast? Well, that's a question for the ages--but if you've got any questions for the com, go ahead and post them here. Meta for all!

Once again, any spoilers for future episodes go under an appropriate comment header.

I want to know needs_more_green's meta about colours. Has that been posted somewhere? Does it involve all the grey Blaine wears in The First Time? (Is he a Pleasantville character?) Does it involve the fact that Blaine wears TONS of blue and red when he's not in his Dalton uniform, but the only two times I remember Sebastian out of uniform, he was in green in one scene and brown in the other? Does it involve Kurt's awesome sparkly pink suit in Mercedes' Dreamgirls fantasy, linking him with both the boys and the girls? Tell meeeeee.

Well hi! I have all the things to say about colour, always--but if you want a summary, naderegen did one for us a little while back. I have a half finished long-form post about it which can go here when I get screencaps and make it sound good etc etc, that has stuff about combining colours and lighting and things like that.

But, until then: here is her post. Also I ramble about colours a lot in here and also here.

As to Sebastian... he doesn't always appear to be a Warbler in the typical sense (in what we saw of them last season), so him wearing Not Warbler colours outside of Dalton makes sense. The Green definitely makes sense--not only did he come in and change the Warblers, in that scene at Scandals he affects some change on Blaine/Kurt and Blaine's relationship (whether intentional or not).

I also think Brown might actually be turning out to mean something, too. I think, so far, it's meant to be when a character is dealing out/dealing with a Reality thing, a "this is how it is". (So Artie and Kurt both get brown a fair bit). Not necessarily a BAD reality (Kurt wears Brown when NYADA becomes a reality for him, etc)... so Sebastian wearing brown when he's dealing Dave the "reality" of why he can't get guys (not actually true, of course, but it carries the air of truth from Seb) I think, fits.

Oooooh, and Emma wears a brown and white polka dot dress during her "fuck you I can take care of myself Will" conversation in TST. :D ALSOOOOO I just realised--Tina is "Brown Eyes", which allows her (because Asian Fusion are the show's watchers) to see the reality of things. dfklgjaslkdfjgalsk

Um but yeah so that's Sebastian's colours, I think?

UGH I WISH I DIDN'T HAVE SO MUCH SCHOOL I HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO SAY ABOUT COLOURS/COSTUMES/LIGHTING AT THE MOMENT.

Oh, right, you asked about Blaine's grey as well...

I think the Pleasantville thing is really interesting, especially since we get "innocent, bashful schoolboy"!Blaine in grey with Sebastian each of those times (in terms of being more repressed than Sebastian, more innocent, more "pure" to use a word I don't like).

Also because he wears Dalton colours all the time outside of Dalton (comfort, representing and acknowledging his past, respect for the dead, I don't know, it's something)-- but when he's back at Dalton, because he can never be a Warbler again (because he apparently never dies any more), so he wears a very neutral colour. Dalton is, whilst amazing, also dangerous and tempting etc. Kurt was tempted by it when he entered it wearing its colours, but Blaine picks neutral and very safe colours to go back into Dalton so that he doesn't get back drawn in. (But then, at the Lima Bean, it's a little more safe/he's a little bit more tempted, so his outfit has some red/blue on it.)

I think that was it? Was there something else in your original comment...?

OH WAIT YEAH KURT'S PINK SPARKLY SUIT MEANS THINGS YES.

Headcanon Thread

Headcanon: Burt is totally a showchoir judge (local business owner/celebrity? CONGRESSMAN? He’d be perfect!). He’s never been allowed to judge when McKinley is performing due to a conflict of interests, but he totally judges other schools/scopes out the competition for Kurt.

(His favorite performers are the Jane Addams girls.)

Blaine Meta Thought

[personal profile] jakia 2012-03-14 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
(One day I will have meta thoughts on another character. Today is not that day.)

“I ran, Kurt. I let the bullies just chase me away.”

Only, that’s not true; the problem is that Blaine didn’t run.

If he had ran, he wouldn’t have gotten beaten up.
